Employer Need to Know

Pandemic Payroll Updates

Recently the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) were passed in response to the spread of COVID-19. These acts include measures aimed at stimulating the economy. Some of these provisions include mandatory employer provided emergency sick pay and emergency paid family leave, deferral of employer Social Security tax payments, employee retention credit, SBA Paycheck Protection Program, and the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program.

Now that these acts have been signed into law, our government and regulatory bodies will have a period of time to issue further guidance to let companies such as Genesis PPG know how to interpret and implement the law. These changes have created a very fluid environment and Genesis continues to adapt so our clients can maintain compliance and confidence in this season of uncertainty.

We anticipate continual software updates as these governmental provisions are transferred from a manual to an automated process within payroll. We here at Genesis PPG understand that many of these new provisions will require collaboration with our payroll team. We are quickly equipping and updating our people and software to handle these new changes. This includes the means to take full advantage of the FFCRA for this current pay period. A couple of important things to note:
  • The FFCRA credit only applies to wages from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. (not before)
  • Genesis staff will add the adjustments to all subject wages to provide the full credit to you immediately.
  • If you have wages that are subject to the FFCRA credit please reach out to your Genesis contact or email: payroll@genesisppg.com

We appreciate your patience and partnership as we navigate these new waters, and look forward to a time when it is back to “business as usual”.
